Use

In this IMG activity, you define the information categories to make certain information of an object type available for the search. You determine what this information can be by using the assignment of a DDIC structure to the relevant information category. At the same time, you assign an information category a content extraction class that is used to determine the relevant information when creating the search profile.

You create new information categories, for example, in the following cases:

  • You have created your own infotype and a corresponding structure and want to make their fields available for the search.
  • You want to use a different content extraction class to retrieve the information of an information category.

Caution

  • When you define search template elements, you specify an information category. Before you delete an information category, you must make sure that it is no longer used in the definition of other search template elements. The system does not check this for you.
  • The information category FULLTEXT_SEARCH can be used together with all object types and may not be assigned to a specific object type. In addition, the assignment of a content extraction class and a DDIC structure is not permitted. In contrast to other information categories, this information category is not included when creating search profiles. Instead, it is used only when defining search template elements.
