Use

In this IMG activity, you specify which fields from the information categories are included for the creation of the search profile of a search profile type. You can search only for these fields. You also assign the field type to each field. The field type specifies how the corresponding information is stored in the search profile and thus the way in which you can search for this information.

You assign fields to a search profile type, for example, in the following cases:

  • You have defined your own search profile type and want to assign fields to it.
  • You want to assign fields from your own information category to a search profile type delivered by SAP.

Note

If an information category contains qualifications, qualifications with proficiencies, or questionnaires, the search profile type automatically contains all existing qualifications, qualifications with proficiencies, or questionnaires. In this case, do not specify a field.

The search uses a search template of the type Full Text to find automatically the selection criteria specified in a free text search. The FULLTEXT_SEARCH information category should therefore not be assigned to a search profile type.

Note that when assigning fields of an information category to a search profile type, only the following assignments are permitted:

  • INT_CAND    -> Fields from information categories of object type NA
  • ERC_CDCY     -> Fields from information categories of object type NE or NA
  • ERC_REQ    -> Fields from information categories of object type NB
  • EXT_POST    -> Fields from information categories of object type NC
  • INT_POER    -> Fields from information categories of object type NC

Caution

When you define a search template element, you specify a field in an information category. Before you delete the assignment of a field to a search profile type, you must make sure that this field is no longer used in other search templates that are based on this search profile. The system does not check this for you.

Activities

  1. Specify the work area by selecting the search profile type to which you want to assign fields.
  2. Choose New Entries.
  3. Specify the information category from which you want to assign fields.
  4. Select the field that you want to assign. The system displays all fields that belong to this information category.
  5. Specify the field type.
  6. Save your entries.
