In this step, you define the settings required for using the Production Optimization Interface (POI).

Note

The interface cannot function correctly until the following settings are defined:

ALE settings

The logical system is used on the selection screen for entering the target optimization systems.

You can use as many logical systems as you like for a physical optimization system.

Check the following settings under "Cross-application components -> Distribution (ALE)":

Set up logical system:

Maintain logical systems

Allocate logical system to the client

Communication:

Define RFC destination

Define port

Reduce IDoc types for master data

Maintain partner profile

Maintain customer distribution model directly

Planning settings:

In applications for planned and production order, certain settings are required for the POI interface. Check the relevant sections to see if these settings are defined.

Define scheduling type:

The scheduling type determines how the SAP R/3 System schedules and which values are transferred to the external optimization system for calculating dates.

Define production scheduler

Automatic task list selection:

You need to match the selection procedure to the external optimization system if the selected task list is relevant to production optimization.

Define scheduling levels:

The interface only deals with capacity requirements on a detailed level. The parameters for adjusting dates are also valid for the scheduling process started by the interface.

Parameters for detailed planning:

Control parameters for planned orders

The scheduling indicator determine that lead-time scheduling is carried out in the SAP R/3 System. Only planned orders for which lead-time scheduling has been carried out can have operations (more precisely: virtual operations based on capacity requirements) substituted between the SAP R/3 System and the external optimization system. All other parameters should be adapted to the external optimization system.

Control parameters for production orders

The scheduling type is especially important for the interface. The scheduling type defines which order dates (start and finish dates) are transferred. All other parameters should be adapted to the external optimization system.

Control parameters for process orders

The scheduling type is especially important for the interface. The scheduling type defines which order dates (start and finish dates) are transferred. All other parameters should be adapted to the external optimization system.
