Use

Plant Connectivity (PCo) is a software component that facilitates the exchange of data between an SAP system and industry-specific standard data sources from different suppliers and manufacturers, such as process control systems, OPC servers, plant historian systems, and SPC systems.

With PCo, you can receive tags and events from the connected source systems in production and pass them on to the connected SAP systems. You can do this either automatically or upon request.

As of PCo 2.2 in conjunction with Netweaver 7.03, you can use PCo to send shopfloor data directly (i.e. without using further middleware) to a Business Suite system such as SAP ERP or SAP EWM and there process it further in the desired application. PCo thus provides a direct connection between a Business Suite application and the machine level in production.

With PCo 2.2, the SAP ODA Connector is also replaced. You can now use PCo instead of the SAP ODA Connector.

Application examples for PCo integration:

  • PCo transmits the number of parts manufactured in a production plant to ERP. In the ERP system, a confirmation is automatically created for the quantity manufactured.
  • PCo reports a malfunction in the production plant to the ERP system (for example, maximum permitted temperature exceeded). A maintenance notification is then automatically created in the ERP system, for example.

Requirements

  • Authorization object S_PCO_INT
  • The following PFCG roles are offered for integration:

    SAP_BC_SRV_PCO_BS_INT_ADMIN

    SAP_BC_SRV_PCO_BS_INT_USER

Standard settings

Activities

  • Define RFC Destination for PCo

You must create a TCP/IP connection for each PCo agent instance.

  • You can test the integration using the report RPCO_BS_INT_TEST.
