Effective July 1, 1999, the Medicare contributions (MC) previously administered by the Social Security System (SSS) have been replaced by NHIP contributions under the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

In this step, you:

  • Delimit the Medicare contribution brackets (contribution type MC) to June 30, 1999 only.
  • Set up the PhilHealth contribution brackets (contribution type HI) starting July 1, 1999, based on the NHIP Monthly Contribution Schedule.

Requirements

Standard settings

The standard system contains salary brackets and NHIP contributions provided by PhilHealth and valid at the time of creation. These figures have been set up as default values.

If PhilHealth changes the salary brackets, you must ensure compliance by modifying the default values accordingly.

Recommendation

Activities

  1. Check that all salary brackets of contribution type MC (Medicare) are delimited with an end date of June 30, 1999.
  2. Check that all salary brackets of contribution type HI (PhilHealth) have a start date of July 1, 1999.
  3. Ensure that the NHIP (HI) salary brackets set up in the system comply with the current figures issued by PhilHealth.
  4. If you need to make changes, delimit the validity dates of the existing record and create a new record.
