In this step, you specify how the edit screen for editing program position IDs should look. You also specify how these edit screens are found, based on the first place in the ID. For this purpose, you should maintain the following parameters:
- number of relevant places for determining the edit screen.
When you create a program position, the first places in the position ID determine which edit screen is used for the coding of the position ID. The number of the relevant first places can be specified in this field. These first places then serve as a key for determining the edit mask.
Example:
Number of relevant places = 1
Position ID = AXYZIf an edit screen is created with the key A, this will be accessed for preparing the position ID.
- Indicator, whether the screen key for determining the appropriate screen always has to have the length entered, or if it can also be shorter.
Example:
Number of relevant places = 2
Position ID = ABXYZ
When the indicator is set, the system searches for an edit screen with the key AB. If no edit screen is found, the position ID is not prepared. If, on the other hand, the indicator is not set, then the number of relevant places is reduced to 1, and the system then searches for an edit screen with the key A. - Maximum of 8 special characters, that can be used for the edit mask
- An indicator, with which you specify that you can only use IDs, for which an edit screen exists, for creating positions.
Example:
Number of relevant places = 1
Position ID = AXYZ
If the indicator is set, then the creation of a position is only allowed if an edit screen exists with the key A.
SAP Recommendation
Avoid the following special symbols: *,+,?,% and periods. These special symbols are used for special functions in the system.
Activities
Specify the parameters.
Further notes (Transport)
You can include your settings in a transport request using Table view -> Transport. However, note that the definition of the edit mask is valid in all clients. Therefore, a transport is only necessary if you have to transport between systems (for example, from a test system into the productive system).
