Use

In this step, you define the type of number assignment for the testing schedule (special form of the Maintenance Plan) that you want to use to schedule your stability tests.

Every testing schedule must have a unique number assigned to it.

For testing schedules, you can define one Number Range for external or internal number assignment.

The following are possible:

  • Internal number assignment

In this case, the numbers are assigned automatically by the SAP system. For internal number assignment to take place, a number range for internal number assignment must be flagged.

  • External number assignment

In this case, the numbers are manually assigned by the user. For external number assignment to take place, a number range for external number assignment must be flagged.

During external number assignment, numbers that are just numerical (no letters), are checked for validity against the corresponding number range.

Requirements

External number assignment must be defined for the testing schedule in a stability study. The default value of the notification number must be within the defined external number range interval. The number must be unique, that is, it cannot have been previously assigned.

Standard settings

Activities

Create the number range, bearing in mind that the type of number range you create depends on whether you want to use internal or external number assignment.

You transport number range objects as follows:

Choose Interval -> Transport in the accounting document Number Range screen.

All intervals for the selected number range object are deleted in the target system first. After the import, only the intervals you export are present. The number statuses are imported with their values at the time of export.

Dependent tables are not transported or converted.
