In this step, you make the system settings for workflow control within the framework of Investment Management. You need to make these settings so that the system can automatically find assets that are incomplete (not created correctly) and forward them to the responsible asset accountant. These incomplete assets come into being when an investment measure is created, and all the required fields of the accompanying asset under construction could not be automatically supplied with values from the asset class.
A workflow activity consists of several tasks. You enter the description of the task in the task definition. At the same time, you can specify the person responsible for the task, by linking the task to an organizational object in PD Organizational Management (PD = Personnel Planning and Development). Therefore, you have to make the following basic Customizing settings in order to carry out a workflow activity in Asset Accounting:
- You have to maintain the assignment between the workflow tasks of Asset Accounting and organizational objects (such as, the position "asset accountant").
- The users involved have to be assigned as owner to the corresponding organizational objects in their organizational plan.
- You have to activate event type linkage for the standard tasks.
Note
You can also process assets that are incomplete using a special Asset Accounting report, if necessary. For more information, see the section "Master Data Maintenance with Asset Views" in FI-AA Asset Accounting in the SAP Library.
Recommendation
If you do not use Workflow procedures in applications other than Asset Accounting, and you have not defined your organizational plan in the system, then you can assign a workflow task directly to an SAP user. Then you do not need any additional organizational objects.
Standard settings
SAP provides a task catalog that contains all the tasks relevant for Asset Accounting.
Activities
- Assign the standard task 'Process incomplete assets' to an organizational unit, a position or an SAP user.
- Activate event linkage for the task "Process incomplete assets."
