After the data is sent from the sender records into R/3, they will then be taken in by receiving programs, which are automatically started in R/3, and subsequently delivered to the communications structure of LIS. This is the decisive step.
LIS receives the data not from an R/3 application, but rather from a receiving program.
The applications use various receiver programs and communications structures.
Before the data records sent from R/2 can be posted in LIS, you must maintain data transfer rules. There are several types of data transfer rules that are described in detail in the Implementation Guides for SAP EIS (Executive Information System).
For movement data, maintain transfer rules for characteristics as well as key figures; for master data texts, you only need to maintain the transfer rules for characteristics.
With the data transfer rules, you determine how the field contents will be shown from the R/2 into R/3 system. The characteristic "plant", for example, can be combined with the characteristic "BUKRS".
