Use

In this configuration step, you create the validation groups and define the validation rules.

Requirements

Prior to creating the validation groups, create any validation field groups and table access groups that need to be attached to the validation groups.

Activities

  1. Create the validation group and enter a text for it.
    1. Attach any validation field groups that are needed for the group.
    2. Attach any table access groups that include needed table access methods.
  2. Create a validation rule.
    1. Enter a validation number and text for the validation.

  • If this is a Central Personnel Data File (CPDF) edit, then enter the CPDF edit number in the fields Field Code, Rule Number, and Rule usage.
    Example: CPDF edit 650.02.2 would have Field Code = 650, Rule Number = 02, and Rule Usage = 2.
  • If this is not a CPDF edit, the field Rule Usage should remain blank.
  1. Create an effective period for a rule.
    2. Maintain the rule in the validation rule builder by selecting the "Maintain Validation" icon in the row with the correct effective date.
