In this step, you can define how the wage maintenance types react when they are entered in the Wage Maintenance infotype (0052) and specify how they react in payroll.
Example
An employee in your company has always worked as a crane operator and received a monthly salary of $2,000.00. Because this employee has reached a certain age, it is no longer safe for him/her to work at this job.
He is transferred to the job of security guard which only pays $1,500.00 per month. Wage maintenance can be used to calculate and pay the difference between the old and new salary.
This wage maintenance amount can be deducted from future standard pay or salary increases and can also be adjusted. This means that the wage maintenance wage type can be reduced by $y or y% over x payroll periods.
The employee's wage type (MC10) in the Basic Pay infotype is the same for both jobs.
You want to calculate the difference between the wage types MC10 for the crane operator and security guard. This difference should be reduced by $x or y% every six months until only the current wage types in the Basic Pay infotype are paid.
The difference (wage maintenance) should be paid and displayed as wage type VDAM.
You can also compare several wage types in the Basic Pay infotype, either individually or as a total, against several wage types in Wage Maintenance infotype individually or as a total.
Requirements
You have defined wage maintenance types in the previous step.
Familiarize yourself with the characteristics of your wage maintenance types.
Standard settings
The standard system contains some model characteristics for wage maintenance types.
Activities
- Check the wage maintenance types in the standard system.
- Copy standard wage maintenance types and rename them according to your requirements.
- Maintain the characteristics of wage maintenance types. Define the validity period of your wage maintenance types.
- Define the wage maintenance class. If more than one wage maintenance type exists at any one time and the wage maintenance classes of these are identical, the higher of the differences is paid.
- Specify whether a Wage Maintenance record can only be entered for complete payroll periods.
- Specify in Adjustment whether wage maintenance should decrease or increase by a fixed or percentage value at set intervals. Determine the adjustment interval and the time unit (weeks or months). Specify the size and type of adjustment in the step Define wage types of wage maintenance types.
- If an employee has more than one wage maintenance type and more than one adjustment at different times, define when payroll should carry out the adjustments by specifying an adjustment class.
- Specify the personnel subarea and employee subgroup groupings for which Wage Maintenance data may be entered.
- Specify the wage types that can be entered in the Wage Maintenance infotype and the comparison and statement wage types in the subsequent step Define wage types of wage maintenance types. Specify in which cumulation wage types you want these wage types to be included.
Further notes
The wage types in the Wage Maintenance infotype can be valuated
directly and/or indirectly.
