In this step, you define premiums which are awarded to employees over and above their regular pay for particular working conditions or on a performace-related basis.

Premiums are determined according to the personnel subarea grouping for premiums.

Example

You wish to define a premium called bonus for hazardous or unpleasant work with a value of 20 DM for personnel subarea grouping for premiums 01. The same premium is to be defined for personnel subarea grouping for premiums 02, but with a value of 30 DM.

You make two entries: one for each personnel subarea grouping with the same premium number and the same definition (bonus for hazardous or unpleasant work), but with different amounts.

Requirements

You have grouped your personnel subareas for premiums in the step "Group personnel areas for premiums".

Standard settings

The standard SAP system contains several examples of premiums and groupings.

Activities

  1. Check the SAP reference entries and customize them as you require.
  2. Add new entries according to your requirements.
  3. Define personnel subarea groupings.
  4. Assign the premium a number and name to indicate what it should be used for.
The premium is identified by the premium number and a premium indicator. The premium indicator can be used to store different values for the same premium number. If you do not enter a premium indicator, the default value is 0000.
  5. Determine the validity period for the premium.
  6. Specify the value of the premium, using either an amount or a number.
    1. Determine the amount of the premium, if necessary.
    2. Determine the number which should be used to multiply the valuation basis of the wage type.
    3. Example:
If you enter 0.25, the valuation basis of the wage type is increased by 25%.

The value of the Number field is not queried in the standard. Customize personnel calculation rule XALQ as required if you want to use this functionality.

Further notes

The premiums are calculated in Payroll.
