In this step, you assign the manual rates that apply for each of the Workers' Compensation codes you defined in Define workers' compensation classification codes. You also can set experience modifiers at company code level or WC state/WC code level (see note below).

Requirements

Workers' Compensation codes must be defined.

Recommendation

The ACCT NO field in the second activity is for Wyoming only. It represents the company's workers' compensation insurance account number with the state agency.

Activities

  1. In the first activity, (Assign manual rate), you assign manual rates to your WC codes.

  • Enter the WC state, manual rate, currency and validity dates.
  • If required, enter an experience modifier (see note below).
  • To ensure proper assignment, check that validity dates match the dates set for the workers' compensation code.

  1. In the second activity (Assign experience modifier), you assign the experience modifier that applies to your company code(s).

  • Enter the company code and validity dates.
  • Enter 'M' in the experience mod/account number field to indicate that you are entering an experience modifier.
  • If necessary, enter the experience modifier.
  • If necessary, enter the account number.

Note

Entering the experience modifier in the second activity defines it at company code level. This is the default assignment for the experience modifier.

You can override this assignment by entering the experience modifier in the first activity (Assign manual rate). This allows you to define the experience modifier according to WC state and WC code.
