In this step, you create wage types by copying the model wage types from the standard system. They are used in Overseas Salary infotype (0560).
You can modify the copied wage types to suit your requirements. These wage types are used in final processing. Only wage types used in Overseas Salary infotype (0560) are proposed in this step.
Please note that any copies you made of model wage types have the same characteristics as the models, both for processing online as well as in payroll accounting. You can check, and if necessary, change the characteristics of your wage types in the subsequent steps.
Recommendation
SAP recommends that you carry out a test run before you create your own wage types. This allows you to check if you have entered all wage types that you wanted to copy. It also allows you to check if you have copied the wage types into the correct wage type area.
Often, wage types belonging to a particular type of wage type (for example, bonus, basic pay, averages) behave identically in dialog as they do in payroll accounting. SAP, therefore, recommends that you copy one wage from every wage type category as a 'prototype'. Then, you can use this prototype as template for your wage types with the same characteristics and coding.
Caution
Use only customer name range (all wage types that begin with a number). Do not copy wage types to the area reserved for SAP model wage types (those that begin with a letter or a symbol).
Please note that the procedures described above require a detailed knowledge of the SAP Human Resources system and/or the SAP payroll system.
Activities
To create your own wage types, proceed as follows:
In the field New wage type area, enter the area in which SAP model wage types, are to be copied.
Select the field Test, if you want to carry out a test run. Choose Execute. If you carry out a test run, a list is generated containing all wage types to be copied as well as those to be created. The remaining steps are not applicable.
On the subsequent list, check that all wage types to be copied are entered and that they are copied into the correct wage type area. If this is correct, choose the function Copy wage types. If you do not want to copy all wage types shown on the list, deselect the wage types that you do not want to use.
Only the chosen wage types will be copied. A list will be generated logging the changes made to certain tables.
