In this activity you establish a mapping between SAP Job keys defined in table 'Jobs' (T513) and used in infotype 'Organisational Assignment' (infotype 0001) and HESA occupational categories.
This mapping allows to classify the HE staff for the purpose of HESA New Aggregate Staff Return. Staff classified as academic professionals based on their job (occupational categorie 2A) will be further classified according to their grade.
All HESA Occupaitonal categories are stored in table 'Occupational categories' (T5GPBSH_OCC).
If you use Organisational Management, the mapping between Jobs and Occupational Categories can be established via infotype 'Occupational categories' (infotype 1652) defined for object 'Job'.
Example
Many job titles used in the HE sector will be able to be coded purely on the basis of the titles given to the broad aggregate categories.
From the titles given to the thirteen occupational categories, it is apparent that 'chefs' are classified to group 5 'Chefs, gardeners, electrical and construction trades, mechanical fitters and printers'.
A number of terms that may be contained within job titles are not relevant for the purpose of occupational coding. Such terms generally describe the nature of the employement contract such as temporary status, hours of work, time of work or levels of skill attainment.

Recommendation
For more information and for detailed description of occupational categories, please refer to manual 'Occupational Coding for Higher Education Staff' published by HESA . It can be found on HESA website www.hesa.co.uk.
