In case that a new member of staff does not yet have a HESA Staff ID the institution has to issue a new and unique staff ID.
The staff ID is store on infotype HESA Master Data (0614). If the employee does not yet have a staff ID a new staff ID can be determinded.
Part of the new staff ID is a six digit number that has to be determined uniquely for every new member of staff. To determine a unique number the system uses the number range object HR_GB_HEID. Since the number has to be unique within each year, the intervals are dependent on the year.

Further notes
If the employee was formerly employed by another British Higher Education institution the staff ID has to be retrieved from that institution. If the previous institution ID is stored on the HESA Master Data infotype and address data is maintained on the institution ID table (T5GPBSH_IS), the report RPUHESG0_ID_CHECK is an example of how to access the address data stored the institution ID table. This report can be used as it is or as a sample for customer development.
