This is a Belgian tool and is used for combining postal codes with the names of cities, or for grouping the different postal codes found under one 'fusion postal code'.
You therefore need to maintain the following two types of postal codes:
- Postal codes (=your company's own postal code list)
- Fusion postal codes (=official postal code list for Belgium)
"Postal codes" displays the relation between all possible and desirable combinations of postal codes and cities. The city name will appear on all employee correspondence. It is possible to enter a city name that is different from the official one.
For example: a person living in Itterbeek, whose postal code is 1701, might prefer to have Dilbeek (postal code normally 1700) printed on his or her correspondence. You can do this here by making the following two entries :
1701A Itterbeek 1700A Dilbeek N
1701B Dilbeek 1700A Dilbeek N
In this example, you can now choose either Itterbeek or Dilbeek for postal code 1701. The third and fourth column show the official postal code and city name, respectively.
The language key specifies the official language of the city. If the city has two official languages, you need to make two entries.
"Fusion postal codes" establishes a connection between the NIS ID numbers and the SI postal code. You must also enter the border zone and the local tax percentage for the city here. The fields for the NIS ID numbers and SI postal code already contain the official values. It is seldom necessary to change these.

7711C MOESKROEN 7700A MOESKROEN N
7711D MOUSCRON 7700B MOUSCRON F
Examples of entries for "Fusion postal codes".
7700A MOESKROEN 03402 54007 MOUSCRON 0,0000
7700B MOUSCRON 03402 54007 MOUSCRON 0,0000
"Postal codes" defines a city for each employee. This city will appear on his personal forms ("Dottenijs", for instance).
"Fusion postal codes" is used for the Belgian postal service and tax authorities. The official city name ("Moeskroen") will then appear.
The fields for postal codes in "Fusion postal codes" still have five characters because a city can also have two names in the official postal coding (e.g. Moeskroen and Mouscron).
Requirements
None
Standard settings
"Fusion postal codes" contains the standard postal codes issued by the Belgian postal service.

Activities
Check whether the existing postal codes are acceptable by law and used in the actual system.
Further notes
