Assign Adjustment Reason for Benefits Plan Carried Forward (FLEX)

Use

You use this step to control whether flexible benefits plans assigned to a specific adjustment reason can be carried forward into the next benefits year, or not.

Requirements

To carry over flexible benefits plans assigned to a specific adjustment reason, you must have previously set the CarryOver indicator for each benefits plan where you wish to permit carrying forward of plan options. Setting the CarryOver indicator allows the same previously enroled plan to be carried forward as the default plan value for the employee in the next benefits year.

You set the CarryOver indicator for each respective plan type in the respective IMG steps, as outlined below:

Activities

  1. Execute this IMG step, and select your required benefits area.

    The table view Benefit Plan Carry Over Setting for the Event: Overview is now displayed.

  2. Select the specific adjustment reason under which the plans you wish to maintain are assigned.
  3. Set the Carry Over Action indicator for each adjustment reason under which you wish benefit plan options to be carried forward.
  4. Save your entries.

Example

You set the Carry Over Action indicator in this IMG step, for the open enrolment adjustment reason. You have also previously set the CarryOver indicator for an insurance plan in the IMG step Define Flexible Benefits Insurance Plan Attributes (FLEX).

During annual (open) enrolment, an employee wishes to enrol in an insurance plan for the coming benefits year XXXX (01.04.XXXX - 31.03.XXXX+1). The system searchs for the same insurance plan record that is valid in the current benefits year. If such a record is found, this plan option will be carried forward to the new benefits year as the default plan option. If no record is found, this insurance plan will be assigned the standard option as default.

Note: This operation exists so that employees can re-select existing plan options. Setting these indicators does not mean that plans are automatically enroled for the new benefits year.
