In this step, you define:
- Codes for garnishment orders
The category of the code determines the type of garnishment. It also specifies to the SAP System how the garnishment order should be processed. For example, the System processes a Standard Order differently from a Family Support Order.
In many cases, the laws governing garnishments differ from one category to the next. By selecting an order code on the infotype Garnishment order (0476) (from the entries created in this step), the user determines which laws are applicable for the order.
- Priorities of garnishment orders
You can also set priorities to an order. This can be done by entering the priority number in the Priority field and choosing the appropriate priority in the Prio per Time field.
Note: Once priority data has been maintained in the system with this step, the system can default data into the Garnishment order (0476) infotype. For example, if the Priority field on infotype Garnishment order (0476) is left blank, but a category has been specified (from the category in this step), the system will automatically maintain the priority.
Example
An employee in Spain has been issued the following garnishment orders.
- Family
- Tax
- Speeding Fines
It is standard policy in Spain that a Family order always takes the highest priority (that is, an employee must paid back this garnishment first, regardless if they have other outstanding garnishment orders). Therefore in this step, you would create the order Family, enter 1 in the Priority field, and then choose in the Prio per Time field Disregard Dates. The court then prescribes that the two remaining orders should be paid back based on the dates they were issued. Therefore, you would then create the orders Tax and Speeding Fines. For both entries, you would then set 2 in the Priority field and choose in the Prio per Time field Court order Date.
