The exemption amount on health and/or hospital insurance premiums only applies to employees whose family total annual gross income (that is, the combined gross income of all family members) does not exceed a statutory limit. Since the system does not store the pay details of other family members, it checks the family gross income limit against the individual employee's gross income.

In this step, you configure the family gross income limit that is used to determine whether an employee is entitled to the additional exemption on health and/or hospital insurance payments.

Example

The statutory family gross income limit is PHP 250,000, and an employee in your company earns PHP 260,000 per annum therefore exceeding the statutory limit. The system does not calculated an exemption amount on health and/or hospital insurance payments for that employee.

Another employee, however, earns less than the family gross income limit of PHP 250,000. As a result, the system calculates the exemption amount regardless of whether the gross income of all the employee's family members combined exceeds the statutory limit.

Requirements

The family gross income limit you enter must coincide with the amount stipulated by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).

Standard settings

Recommendation

To change the amount of the limit, SAP recommends that you delimit the validity dates of the existing record and create a new record.

Activities

Modify the constant Family Gross Income (PHFGI) to meet your requirements by entering the appropriate validity dates and the exemption amount as stipulated by the BIR.
