In this step, you set up the annual exemption amount assigned to each tax status. The tax exemption amount affects the amount of tax deducted from an employee's gross remuneration every payroll period.

Requirements

Before you set up the annual exemption amounts, you must set up all the tax statuses required by your company in the step Define tax status in the Taxation section of the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Payroll Philippines.

Standard settings

The standard system contains model entries for all the tax exemptions provided by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for every tax status.

Recommendation

You should only enter additional tax exemptions or modify the model entries in the event of:

  • Legislative changes to the tax exemptions defined by the BIR
  • An additional exemption status introduced by the BIR

Activities

To set up the annual exemption amount, you can either:

  1. Choose Edit -> New entries, and enter the relevant amount against a tax exemption status, or
  2. Flag an existing entry, choose Goto -> Details, and modify the entry to meet your requirements.
