The transition to the new SI calculation can only take place at the beginning of the year due to the adjustment in annual bases. SAP recommends a changeover at the beginning of the year because retroactive accounting back to the start of the current year can cause problems in gross up wage types and rounding differences.
This is also the case if you changeover directly from Release 3 to Release 4.5 or a later Release. For the new payroll units that were developed for Release 4.5, you cannot chose any start dates. The old SI calculations can be implemented together with the payroll units.
Example
You change over from Release 3 to Release 4.5 in October 1999. Thus, the customer start date for the new SI calculation is 01/01/2000. The customer end date for the old SI calculation is, then, 12/31/1999.

Standard settings
The start date of the new SI calculation in the SAP standard system is 01/01/1998.

Activities
Replace the start date of the constant SV01 with your customer's start date for the new SI calculation. Chose the Expand/Collapse button and delete the previous entry.
