In this step you can make all the settings required for processing family-related bonuses.

The individual sub-objects are displayed as a hierarchical list. This enables you to access the individual data records directly.

You can maintain other data using the pushbuttons Reduction rules, Counting classes and Age limits. You can also display all the objects described below as a view cluster using the Maintain all function.

Elements in the hierarchy list

  • Contribution rules for individual family equalization funds (highlighted in dark purple)

In this view, you specify the wage amount liable for contributions which the employer pays into the applicable fund. You also determine the wage type used to represent the wage amount liable for contributions. In the standard system, the wage type used is /415 (employer AHV wage period). You can also determine whether FAK contributions should be calculated on a customer-specific basis using a Customer Exit (Enhancement PC020001).

  • Calculation rules for child benefits and training bonuses for each FAK rule (highlighted in light purple).

In this view you set the basic conditions for child benefits and training bonuses. You determine:

    • Whether the benefit/bonus is to be paid including or excluding the month in which a child reaches the age limit for benefits/bonus.
    • Whether the benefit/bonus is paid including or excluding the month in which a child exceeds the age limit.
    • Which reduction rule applies to benefit/bonus reduction dependent upon employee's attendance hours. With the pushbutton Differing reduction rules you can deposit differing reduction rules for hourly wage earners and salaried employees.
    • Whether or not the employee draws the benefit/bonus directly from the fund. If your company uses a more generous rule internally, it only pays the difference between this and the benefit/bonus amount prescribed by the fund.

You can override the settings made here for individual accommodation types, bonus codes, and so forth in the view Child Benefits and Training Bonus Amounts (see below).

  • Calculation rules for bonuses paid after birth of child according to FAK [Family Equalization Fund] regulations (highlighted in light purple).

In this view you set the basic conditions for child benefits and training bonuses. You determine:

    • The reduction rule used when an employee enters/leaves the company during the month
    • The reduction rule used to reduce the benefit/bonus according to the employee's attendance hours.
    • Whether the employee draws the benefit/bonus directly from the fund. If your company uses a more generous internal rule, it only pays the difference between this and the amount prescribed by the fund.

You can override the settings made here for individual accommodation types or bonus codes etc. in the view Amounts for Bonus Paid upon Birth of Child (see below).

  • Calculation rules for household allowances according to the FAK rule (highlighted in light purple)

In this view you specify the wage type for the household allowance.
This view also stores the amount of the monthly household allowance. You can specify an amount for each hour worked. This is an alternative to using the amount per hour calculated by a proportional reduction of the monthly amount in the calculation of the household allowance (see reduction rules).

  • Different payment of family-related bonuses (highlighted in light purple).

In this view you specify the personnel subareas and company regulations for which different family-related bonuses are to be paid. This is the case, for example, if a bonus is normally paid by the SI fund but you want the company to pay it for certain personnel subareas.

You must assign the desired company regulation to cantonal FAK and specify which bonuses the company pays.

  • Amounts for child benefits/training bonuses (highlighted in grey)

You must specify the payment amount for child benefits or a training bonus here. The following factors are decisive:

    • Accommodation of the child
    • Bonus code to be used
    • Maximum and minimum age limit
    • Maximum number of children eligible for benefits/bonuses
    • The child number of the child for which the benefit/bonus is paid. If you have defined further counting classes (see below), you can control the children eligible for benefits/bonuses depending upon accommodations and the bonus code.
    • Maximum income limit of a child in training (from infotype 0021) eligible for bonus.

You must specify the wage type and the amount for the payment. In addition to the monthly amount, you can also specify an amount per hour worked. This is then used to calculate child benefits or training bonuses instead of the amount per hour calculated by reducing the monthly amount proportionately (see Reduction rules).

In this view you can also define validity criteria and reduction formulas that differ from those maintained in the view Calculation Rule for Child Benefits.

  • Amounts for bonus paid upon birth of child (highlighted in grey)

In this field you specify the payment amount for a bonus paid upon the birth of a child. This depends on the following factors:

    • Accommodation of child
    • Relationship to child
    • Maximum number of birth bonuses to be paid in a payroll period

You can specify an amount for each hour worked. This is an alternative to using the amount per hour calculated by a proportional reduction of the monthly amount in the calculation of the child benefits and training bonuses (see reduction rules).

You can also define reduction formulas in this view that differ from those maintained in the view Calculation Rule for Bonus Paid on Birth of Child.

Reduction rules

In this field you specify the rules for reducing the individual bonuses according to attendance hours or an employee's entering/leaving during the month.

As soon as an employee's attendance hours exceed the maximum attendence limit, a bonus reduction is triggered according to the reduction rule.

There are three basic categories of reduction rules:

  • Reduction according to reduction factor (linear reduction)

Generally, the maximum limit of hours for the reduction is used as the reduction factor. The actual, reduced bonus amount is calculated as follows:

Number of actual hours (x) maximum bonus / reduction factor

  • Payment of bonuses based on hours

Instead of a proportional reduction of the bonus, a fixed amount per hour is used, which is then multiplied by the actual hours worked. You can determine a different amount per hour worked for type of bonus (see above).

  • Reduction based on a fixed percentage rate (graduated reduction)

An employee's actual attendance hours are grouped in various hours areas and the same reduction factor is always used within one of these areas. This procedure is only used in the clock and watch industry at present (see reduction rule U1 as an example).

You must specify the following:

  • Minimum number of hours from which a bonus is paid
  • Maximum number of hours from which a full bonus is paid
  • Whether maximum hours for the personnel subarea are to be used instead of a fixed maximum limit
  • Percentage of the bonus paid if the attendance hours are between the minimum and maximium values (only in linear reduction)
  • Percentage by which the bonus is to be reduced (only in graduated reduction)
  • Whether the reduction is to be calculated based on hours instead of a percentage reduction (see above)
  • Rounding type and rounding divisor to be used to calculate bonus that is to be reduced
  • Whether you want the reduction to be calculated specifically for your enterprise using a Customer Exit (Enhancement PC020001)

The standard system contains the following three reduction rules for reductions based on an employee entering or leaving the enterprise during the month:

  • TZ1        Reduction based on planned hours
  • TZ2        Reduction based on planned calendar days
  • TZ3        Reduction based on planned working days

These rules are used to calculate family-related bonuses in the standard system; if you want to use your own rules for reduction during the course of a month, you must modify the coding of the programs that perform this function. This can be done using enhancement PC020001.

Age limits: Validity of child benefits/training bonus

In this field you must specify whether a bonus is paid including or excluding the month in which the child reaches the maximum age of
