In this step, you assign regions (country-subdividing and cross-country) an order in a hierarchy structure. This makes it possible for you to set up complex geographical structures that can be taken into consideration in the trip rules for the relevant travel service categories.
Example
According to a flight-specific trip rules, flights to destinations outside of Europe are to be booked with one specific airline exclusively.
To reproduce a region for destinations outside Europe, define a region (for example, 'AE') in the "Define cross-country regions" section and assign all continents (if defined as cross-country regions) outside Europe to this region.
Requirements
In the following sections, the relevant IATA locations or countries must be assigned to the regions, so that a query can be performed for the chosen destination when a trip is created:
- Define assignment of IATA locations to country-subdividing regions
- Define assignment of countries to cross-country regions
Standard settings
Recommendation
Activities
- Choose New entries.
- Choose a type ("country-subdividing region" or "cross-country region") for the super region (higher level).
- Choose a super region.
- Choose a type ("country-subdividing region" or "cross-country region") for the sub-region.
- Choose a sub-region.
Further notes
For the hierarchical assignment of regions, you should keep in mind that only the following combinations are possible when choosing the relevant types:
Type (Super region) Type (Sub-region)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 (cross-country) 1 (cross-country) -------------------------------------------------------------------
1 (cross-country) 2 (country-subdividing)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 (country-subdividing) 2 (cross-country)
With the combination 2/1 (country-subdividing/cross-country), the IATA locations within the cross-country region are not taken into consideration.
