Using maximum amounts for hotel nights, you can specify for each location the amount that the room price can not or should not exceed.
There are different response types available to you for controlling the dialog. You can, for example, prevent the choice of a room that exceeds the maximum amount (response Error message) or require that a reason be given (response Reason (text)) for doing so.
You define the maximum amounts depending on the control variant for Travel Planning.
Example
Requirements
You have defined control variants (IMG activity: Define groupings for travel planning control ).
SAP provides, in the standard system, entries for IATA locations, country-subdividing and cross-country regions and countries. Check these entries in Customizing for Travel Planning in the section Geographical Situation.

Activities
To define a maximum amount, proceed as follows:
- ChooseNew entries.
- Choose a control variant.
- Choose a geographical type.
- Enter the location for which the maximum amount is to be valid.
If you do not enter a value here, the maximum amount applies for all IATA locations stored in the system. - In the fields Valid to and Valid from, enter the end or beginning date of the validity period.
- Enter the maximum amount and the relevant currency. The amount is then checked with consideration to currencies in dialog when a room is chosen.
- In the Room display field you can decide whether, in the list of available rooms, rooms with prices above the maximum amount
- are displayed and selectable (ready for entries), for example combined with the response type Reason (text)
- are displayed but not selectable (not ready for entries)
- are not displayed
- Create a response and a message text .
- If you do not make any entries, a standard error message appears in which the user is informed that the maximum amount has been exceeded. The choice of a room above the maximum amount is not possible.
- In the message text you can use the variable '&v1&': In dialog, when the message appears, the relevant maximum amount for hotel night is then displayed instead of the variable.
