In this activity, you define the scope of data that is transferred to the Web frontends of the following portals for mySAP Product Lifecycle Management:

  • Product portal
  • Asset portal
  • Project portal

Data is selected with reference to the function that you want to execute on a Web frontend.
To enable this data to be displayed clearly, you group several fields together in a group.

Example

You want to display materials in a portal (function MAT_REQ). You select several fields and assign them to two data groups (basic data and plant data).

Recommendation

Activities

For each field that you want to display in the PLM portal, you must define the following settings:

  • Choose New Entries. You see the detail screen.
  • Select the function for which you want to select object data.
  • Enter a counter for sorting the data fields.
  • Using the possible entries, choose first the database table, then the field.
  • If you want the field displayed on a specific tab page, enter the data group required.
  • If required, select the Default indicator.

Further notes

You can also restrict this function-related data selection on a user by user basis (personalized settings). This ensures that each user sees exactly the data required to perform his or her specific task.
