In this step you can change the default messsage type for certain messages for variance calculation (collective processing).
You can make separate settings for individual and collective processing in variance calculation.Through this,it is possible to suppress the output of messages in collective processing that you continue to display in individual processing or would like to display with another message type.
Example
Example 1:
The following example is from the user-defined error management of Product Cost Planning:
There is no minimum message type for the message CK 037 "Lot size & & transferred from the costing view".
- If you set the message type to " " (Blank), the message is not displayed in the log.
- If you set the message type to "I" (Information), the message is displayed in the log. The cost estimate receives the status "calculated".
- If you set the message type to "E" (Error), the cost estimate receives the status "With errors" after the message is issued and cannot be marked and released. .
The minimum message type is "I" (Information) for the message CK 065 "The activity type & in controlling area & cannot be allocated".
- If the message type is "I" (Information), the message is displayed in the log. The cost estimate receives the status "Costed" and can be marked and released.
- If you set the message type to "E" (Error), the cost estimate receives the status "With errors" after the message is issued and cannot be marked and released.
- You cannot set the message type " " (Blank) for this message.
Example 2:
Multiple production orders are assigned to a product cost collector. Not all of the data necessary for target cost calculation is available for one of the production orders. In collective processing, the product cost collector is processed with the Schedule Manager. If there is an error message resulting from the production order, the product cost collector can neither be processed in this step nor in the following one. User-defined error management makes it possible for you to change the message type in the collective processing of variance calculation from "E" (Error message) to "W" (Warning message). The message type "W" allows for the processing of the product cost collector in collective processing in variance calculation and in the following processing step. If you process the product cost collector in individual processing, then the message continues to be issued as an error message.
Requirements
Standard settings
In the SAP standard system you can find a list of the messages that can be influenced by user-defined error management in Customizing for the respective function or work area.
Recommendation
Often, during execution of the first tests for the individual functions, you will get an impression of the possibilties user-defined error management has to offer. Read the section User-Defined Error Management in Cost Object Controlling in the document Cost Object Controlling. You can find valuable information there on the use of user-defined error management.
This information can be particularly useful when calculating scrap variances and using product cost collectors.
Activities
In this process step, you receive a list of the user-defined messages for the relevant function.
To change the default message type, proceed as follows:
- Position your cursor on the line with the relevant message on the column Message type. When you click on the column, a dialog box appears with the allowed message types.
- Position your cursor on the desired message type and choose Enter. The system changes the message type for the selected message.
