In this step you can assign system messages that logically belong together to an area of responsibility.

Then, when displaying a message log in the application, you can display the area of responsibility for the messages and sort the messages according to area of responsibility.

Furthermore, you can assign the system messages to two user-defined groups and sort the log according to these groups. Through this assignment you can, for example, determine how urgently an error must be removed.

Standard settings

In the SAP standard system the most important messages of product costing are already assigned to areas of responsibility. Even the areas of responsibility are pre-defined.

Note

  • You can assign additional messages in the log to an area of responsibility.
  • The work area in error management corresponds to the message class.

Recommendation

Activities

  1. Enter the work area and the message number. With these, you can identify the displayed message from the log.
  2. Assign the message to an area of responsibility.
  3. Enter an appropriate key as a group definition if you want to use further sorting criteria.

Further notes

For sales order cost estimates and order BOM cost estimates in Product Cost by Sales Order you have the possibilty of forwarding messages directly to specific people. To do so, you must make the appropriate setting (mail active) under Miscellaneous in the costing variant. Furthermore, you must make additional settings in Customizing of Product Cost Planning under Basic Settings for Material Costing -> Error management.
