Use
In this IMG activity, you configure the authorization settings that allow users to propose and confirm logistical follow-up activities for inbound delivery items in the Material Inspection in Warehouse transaction within Advanced Returns Management.
For example, you can configure that a specific user, say the inspector, can only propose certain follow-up activities. These then have to be confirmed by another user, say the warehouse manager or the returns manager. You can also configure which follow-up activities a user can confirm directly without requiring another user's involvement.
You configure the authorization settings in several steps. First, you create aprofile for the proposal of follow-up activities and a profile for the confirmation of follow-up activities. You then combine these two profiles into an inspection profile. Finally, you define user groups to which you assign a certain inspection profile. By assigning users to the user groups, you specify which authorizations a user has with regard to the proposal and confirmation of follow-up activities.
Requirements
Standard settings
If you do not define user groups or do not assign a user to a user group, users are allowed to propose and to confirm all possible follow-up activities, as long as their authorization profile is not restricted.
Activities
- Choose dialog structure Define Follow-Up Activity Profile to create follow-up activity profiles for the proposal and the confirmation of follow-up activities.
- Choose dialog structure Assign Follow-Up Activities and assign relevant follow-up activity codes to the profiles.
- Choose dialog structure Define Inspection Profiles to create an inspection profile. Enter a description for these profiles. Assign a follow-up activity profile for the proposal and a follow-up activity profile for the confirmation of follow-up activities to an inspection profile.
- Choose dialog structure Define User Groups to create user groups. Enter a description for these user groups. Assign an inspection profile to a user group.
- Choose dialog structure Assign Users to User Groups to group users with the same authorizations into a user group.
Note
In order to be able to confirm follow-up activities, the user needs authorization for activity 31 Confirmation (release) of follow-up activities in the authorization object MSR_INSPEC.
You must also define user groups in order to set up printing of inspection worklists. You configure print settings in IMG activity Configure Print Settings.
Example
User A works as an inspector in the warehouse. She has only limited authorizations and may not initiate scrapping of a returned product. However, she may be allowed to propose follow-up activity Transfer to Scrap to her manager, user B.
In order to achieve the desired authorization control, you could proceed as follows:
- Create the follow-up activity profile NO_RESTRICTION containing all follow-up activities, including Transfer to Scrap.
- Create another follow-up activity profile WO_SCRAPPING containing all follow-up activities except Transfer to Scrap.
- Create the inspection profile INSPECTOR and assign the follow-up activity profile NO_RESTRICTION as the profile for proposal and profile WO_SCRAPPING as the profile for confirmation.
- Create the inspection profile LFU_RESPONSIBLE and assign the follow-up activity profile NO_RESTRICTION as both the profile for proposal and confirmation.
- Create the user groups INSPECTOR and LFU_RESPONSIBLE and assign the inspection profiles INSPECTOR and LFU_RESPONSIBLE to them.
- Assign user A to user group INSPECTOR and user B to user group LFU_RESPONSIBLE.
With this strategy, user A is not allowed to confirm follow-up activity Transfer to Scrap during inspection. However, she is allowed to enter this activity as a proposal so that user B just needs to confirm it.
