Conversion exit for material numbers converts the system-specific material number into the combination Manufacturer Part Number and Manufacturer Code (also unique).

If conversion exit is active:

  • you can enter a material either by using the system-specific material number or by using the manufacturer part number (possibly with the manufacturer code).
  • the system displays a material by its manufacturer part number in lists and on screens.

So that the manufacturer part number and the manufacturer code can be displayed in one field, you can increase the maximum field length for input and output of values ("output length").

Activities

To configure the input and output conversion of material numbers, proceed as follows:

  1. Activate conversion exit.
  2. Maintain a delimiter (standard: ":").
  3. Determine whether to display the external manufacturer in its own column in lists.

To increase the field length for the input and output of material numbers, enter a value between 18 and 40.

These settings do not affect each other and can be separately activated and deactivated.

Further notes

Activating the conversion exit can lead to unusual system behaviour in value ranges and search helps.

An output length that is greater than 18 characters may affect the layout of lists.
