In this step, you maintain the COLI provider and factor relevant for infotype Compensation Package Offer (0706), which enables you to store the various compensation packages you may want to offer to your global employee(s).
The default factor - which is calculated by your COLI provider to compensate the cost-of-living differences between countries and evaluated on a regular basis - is displayed in the above-mentioned infotype on the basis of the assignment type stored in infotype Global Assignment Details (0710). For more information on how to link a COLI provider to an assignment type, see the activity Define Assignment Types.
Example
You can create a COLI on a country-to-country or on a region-to-region basis:
- Germany - United States (factor: 1,3)
- United States - Germany (factor: 0,7)
- Germany - United States, Bay Area (factor: 2,0)
- United States - Germany, Bayern (factor: 0,8)
Requirements
To define a factor on a region-to-region basis, you need to maintain the relevant geographical areas.
Standard settings
The SAP system is shipped with an empty table. You can create one or more COLI providers and define the correct factor(s) to meet your company-specific needs.
Recommendation
Create the COLI provider(s) you work with and determine the factor(s) applicable to your global assignments.
Activities
To create a new COLI provider:
- Click New entries.
- Enter a 2-character key and a description.
- Save your entries.
- Select the newly created COLI provider.
- In the dialog structure, select Cost of Living Index.
- Enter either a home and host country combination, or a home and host region combination. The former is the most commonly used combination, the latter is rather used for areas in which the cost of living is above the national average (for example, the Bay Area in the United States or München in Germany).
- Enter the date on which the factor comes into effect.
- Enter the COLI index, that is the compensation factor.
- Save your entries.
- Repeat the previously mentioned steps for any further COLI provider and factor(s).
