Use

In this step, you group countries according to geographical areas, which you can then use in the activity Define Compensation Package Items to determine the validity of derived compensation package items according to assignment type and checklist items (For certain assignments, you may need a visa.).

No preliminary steps required.

Standard settings

The SAP system is shipped with the following groups:

  • 99 (Worldwide)
  • AM (Americas, including North, Central and South America and the Caribbeans)
  • EM (Europe, Middle East and Africa)
  • AP (Asia-Pacific)

Activities

To create a new group:

  1. Click New entries.
  2. Enter a 2-character key and a description.
  3. Save your entries.
  4. Select the newly created country grouping.
  5. In the dialog structure, select Link Country to Group.
  6. Click New entries.
  7. Select a country.
  8. Save your entries.
  9. Repeat the previously mentioned steps for any further country.

Example

You could also make subdivisions and group the European countries as follows:

  • Northern Europe (Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden),
  • Western Europe (United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg),
  • Eastern Europe (Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, Romania and Yugoslavia),
  • Central Europe (Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Slovenia and Slovakia),
  • Southern Europe (Spain, France, Greece, Italy and Portugal).
