In this step, you define the possible shipping document type groups.

These are used to group a number of shipping document types, which has the following effect on shipping document creation:

  1. The shipping document types in a group are placed in one spool request. The group is therefore a division criterion when creating spool requests.
  2. The shipping document types in a group can be sorted together. The group is used to control sorting of all the shipping documents it contains.
  3. You can specify the group as a selection criterion when creating shipping documents.

Assignment to shipping document type category
Like every shipping document type, every shipping document type group must belong to a shipping document type category. You can only group shipping document types if they belong to the same shipping document type category. The following shipping document type categories are currently supported by the system:

  • Truck route-oriented
  • Issue-plant-oriented
  • General

Example

The following shipping document types in the shipping document type category 'truck route-oriented' are to be printed:

  • Truck route loading instructions
  • Truck route list
  • Delivery note
  • Standard delivery exception

Option 1
You define a shipping document type group for all four shipping document types. In this case, all four are sorted together. They are printed in the following order:

  1. Documents for truck route "1"
    • Truck route loading instructions
    • Truck route list
    • Delivery notes
    • Standard delivery exceptions
  2. Documents for truck route "2"
    • Truck route loading instructions
    • Truck route list
    • Delivery notes
    • Standard delivery exceptions
  3. Documents for truck route "3"
    • and so on.

These shipping documents can be printed together in the specified order on the same printer.

Option 2
You define two shipping document type groups.

  1. Group "1"
    • Truck route loading instructions
    • Truck route list
  2. Group "2"
    • Delivery notes
    • Standard delivery exceptions

In this case, the system generates two spool requests, one for each group. The shipping documents are printed out in the following order:

Spool request "1"

  1. Documents in group "1" (spool request "1") for truck route "1"
    • Truck route loading instructions
    • Truck route list
  2. Documents in group "1" (spool request "1") for truck route "2"
    • Truck route loading instructions
    • Truck route list
  3. Documents in group "1" (spool request "1") for truck route "3"
    • and so on

Spool request "2"

  1. Documents in group "2" (spool request "2") for truck route "1"
    • Delivery notes
    • Standard delivery exceptions
  2. Documents in group "2" (spool request "2") for truck route "2"
    • Delivery notes
    • Standard delivery exceptions
  3. Documents in group "2" (spool request "2") for truck route "3"
    • and so on.

Recommendation

When you delete a shipping document type group, you should ensure that no more shipping document types are assigned to this group. The system does not check this assignment. Shipping document types that are assigned to a group that has been deleted may not be included in shipping document creation.

Activities

  1. Specify an alphanumeric key of up to 8 characters for each shipping document type group.
  2. Specify the shipping document type category.
  3. Enter the appropriate short and long text.
