In this step, you define the possible shipping document types. The shipping document types are used to classify the different shipping documents.
You specify the following for a shipping document type:
- Assignment to a shipping document type category
The shipping document type category assigns a shipping document type either primarily to a truck route or an issue or generally to a plant. The usage of the shipping document type category is also described in the step Define shipping document type groups.
- Assignment to a shipping document level
The shipping document level describes (for each shipping document type category) the level at which a shipping document of that type is created, for example at the level of the printing works, unloading point, issue etc.
- Name of form to be created and function module for data retrieval for this form
The forms in the standard system are simply suggestions. You can copy them and modify them to meet your requirements.
To ensure that your company-specific form layout is taken into account in printing, you must specify your modified form instead of the standard SAP form for the shipping document type.
Note: It is possible to develop your own function modules and forms for completely new shipping document types and to enter them in this table. If you need to do this, you should contact your SAP consultant.
- Spool control or creating a sequential file
In addition to creating shipping documents as SAPscript forms, the system also supports the creation of sequential files. In this case, you specify the logical file name of a sequential file her instead of specifying a printer. The logical file names are defined in the standard IMG.
In this case, you must also replace the function module that normally performs data retrieval and addresses the SAPscript form with a function module that writes the shipping document data to this sequential file.
Activities
- Specify a numerical key from the customer name range '9000 to 9999' for each shipping document type.
- Enter the texts describing the shipping document types.
- Enter the other data required on the shipping document type (see above).
- Define the output type (spool or file output).
- If applicable, select the indicators 'Also for lower-level drop-offs' (column 'LD') and 'Transfer lower-level drop-offs' ('TL') on the main screen for truck route-oriented shipping document types.
