In this step, you define the number intervals for the number ranges for cities and streets.

In some countries, the city numbers are predefined in the official postal data, for example in the USA and in Germany. In other countries, for example in Italy, you can assign any city numbers you wish (sequentially) in the system. In this case, you define the number interval of the internal number range for city numbers.

You also define an internal number range in this step for assigning street keys.

Transport

You transport number range objects as follows:

Choose Interval -> Transport in the accounting document Number Range screen.

All intervals for the selected number range object are deleted in the target system first. After the import, only the intervals you export are present. The number statuses are imported with their values at the time of export.

Dependent tables are not transported or converted.

Standard settings

The standard setting is "0000000001 to 9000000000".

Recommendation

You are advised not to change the standard setting.

Activities

To define a number range, you need to specify a number interval (or several number intervals). To do this, you must proceed as follows:

  1. Specify an alphanumeric key of up to 2 characters for each number interval.
  2. Specify the limits of the number interval (numbers from and to).
The individual number intervals should not overlap. A number can only be used once in each number range.

Note

The use of the number range intervals can be defined in the step Define number range usage in the section 'Basic Settings for the Media Industry'.
