In this step, you define the condition elements listed below for the existing output condition records for each application.

Note

  • You can maintain directly in expert mode or use a customizing workflow for guidance. The workflow accesses the detailed standard documentation on the customizing settings for output control.
  • You define the condition types and determination procedures for renewal subscriptions for application J9 (not J0, Sales).

  • Access sequences

An access sequence is a strategy used by the SAP System to search for valid condition records. In the access sequence, you define which field combinations are used to search through the condition tables and in which order.

  • Output types

An output type (for example, offer, order confirmation, delivery note) is an identification code for the contents of the output and is used to manage parameters for output determination. The output type is assigned an access sequence that contains an assignment to condition tables. The output type is assigned to a processing program or routine for each transmission medium and this program or routine is accessed when a corresponding output status record is processed.

  • Output determination procedure type

In the output determination procedure, you define which output types (condition types) are to be taken into account and in what order. The system then determines automatically which output determination procedure applies for a business transaction during output determination and takes the output types listed in the procedure into account in the order assigned. In a further step, you assign the output determination procedures to the object type (for example, sales document type, sales document item, research type etc.) for which output determination is to be performed.

Recommendation

  • You are advised not to change the access procedures, output types and output determination procedures in the standard system.
  • To create a new access sequence or output type, copy a similar existing one and make the changes to the copy.
  • If you define your own access sequences or output types, the key should begin with the letter Y or Z, since these name ranges are reserved in the standard system.
  • You should define your own output determination procedures that contain only those output types that you actually use. This avoids accessing output types unnecessarily.

Activities

Maintain the access sequences, output types and output determination procedures using the customizing workflow or in expert mode.

Further notes

  • If you want to maintain requirements for access or output types, follow the menu path Goto -> Requirements on the initial screen for condition maintenance. This accesses the maintenance screen for requirements.
  • To edit a form, select it on the maintenance screen of the processing programs for an output type and choose Display form. This accesses the display mode for form definition, from where you can switch to change mode.
