In this step, you define access sequences for condition types. The access sequence is a search strategy used by the system to perform a search for valid condition records for a condition type.

Example

You specify for a price that the system is to search first for the customer price and afterwards for the list price.

Recommendation

  • If you define your own access sequences, the keys should begin with the letter Z, since this name range is reserved in the standard system.
  • You are advised not to change the standard access sequences.

Activities

  1. Find out how many of the standard access sequences you can use as they are.
  2. Create new access sequences.
    • Copy a similar access sequence as a template.
    • Specify an alphanumeric key of up to 4 characters for each new access sequence.
    • Enter a descriptive text.
  3. Define priorities for access by specifying the condition tables in the desired order. You can refer to the defined combinations of key fields using the possible entries function (F4) when doing this.
  4. As of release 3.0, you no longer need to generate accesses as this is performed automatically. However, manual direct generation is still possible if you click the 'Utilities' pushbutton.

You also have the following option:

  • To improve performance, you can streamline access for a condition type. In the search for condition records, the system then only checks the header fields in the document.
