In this step, you maintain the service types and their compositions.

You need the service type when creating purchase agreements (subscription, retail order).

Service types are created as alphanumeric keys. You define the service type composition for each service type. This determines which issue types can be sold in a certain service type.

When defining the service type composition, you can specify the issue type as follows:

  • Standard issue type

    (The 'Saturday edition' is sold on the weekday Saturday.)

  • Actual issue type

    (The 'Saturday edition' can also be sold on a weekday other than Saturday, for example if the Saturday is a public holiday.)

Example

  • Full subscription: Sale of all issue types (Monday to Sunday)
  • Saturday subscription: Sale of Saturday edition

Requirements

The possible issue types should already be defined.

Activities

  1. Check which service types your company uses.
  2. Modify the existing entries to meet your company's requirements.
  3. To create any new service types required, please proceed as follows:
    1. Specify an alphanumeric key of up to 5 characters.
    2. Enter the appropriate short and long text.
  4. Define the service type composition for each service type you created. To do this, you need to make the following entries:
    1. Standard issue type
      2. This determines the standard publication day ('Saturday edition', for example, means that the publication day is Saturday).
    2. Actual issue type
      3. Determines the actual publication day of the issue. It can differ from the standard issue type in some cases (for example, the Saturday edition is published on a Friday because the Saturday is a public holiday).
    3. Valid from
      4. Date from which the setting applies.
    4. Valid to
      5. Date to which the setting applies. For an unlimited period, enter '12/31/9999'.
