In this activity you define the account assignment derivation of Funds Management account assignments to:

  • Ensure the assignment of an FM account assignment for documents created automatically (for example, dunning charges)
  • Obtain proposal values for FM account assignments for document entered manually

With the account assignment derivations defined here, the system automatically derives FM account assignments from the specifications for the business partner items (for example, main and subtransaction, account determination ID) when you enter a business transaction.

In an account assignment derivation you also define the account assignment specifications for the clarification worklist, that is, which general ledger accounts from Financial Accounting and which account assignments from Funds Management are supported for clarification worklist postings.

Note:
When you activate Funds Management in Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable, you have to assign an FM account assignment in Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable documents.

The account assignment derivation consists of a sequence of derivation steps - the derivation strategy. This sequence of steps is used to derive the FM account assignment values using the respective business transaction in Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable. Each derivation step describes how target fields can be filled from source fields. There are various different types of derivation steps that can be used to map different logical dependencies between source and target fields.

  • Derivation rule
  • The derivation is a rule where you can define which values or value combinations of source fields lead to which values in target fields.
  • Table access
  • You can use the table access to access individual records in any tables. In this case, the source fields correspond to the key of a table that you specify and from where field content can be transferred to target fields.
  • Assignment
  • You can use assignments to assign the content of a source field or a constant to a target field.
  • Initialization
  • You can use the initialization to set the value of a source field to the initial value in the target field depending on the category (blank for category CHAR, zero for category NUNC).

Requirements

You have activated table fields of the component Funds Management.

For more information see the IMG activity Activate Funds Management Table Fields for Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable.

Standard settings

As standard, Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable uses the derivation strategy of Funds Management (see Implementation Guide for Funds Management Government, Master Data -> Assignment of Account Assignments from Other Components -> Define Account Assignment Derivation). If you want to define your own derivation strategy in Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable, you have to set the indicator Use Derivation Strategy from Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable in the maintenance view TFK_FMDERIVSTAT. To set the indicator, call up the view using transaction SM30.

Activities

You can create, change, and delete steps, and change the sequence.

Create step

  1. Choose Create Step.
If you want to add a new step to the derivation strategy, select the step before which you want to insert the new step and choose Create Step.
  2. Select one of the derivation step types offered.
  3. Specify a text and source and target fields for the derivation step. You can define field properties for the source and target fields.
  4. If the derivation step is only to be carried out under certain conditions, for example, only for certain account assignment values, specify this on the tab page Conditions.
  5. On the tab page Properties, define step properties, for example, whether an error message is issued if no target value can be determined.

If you use the derivation step type Derivation Rule, you have additional input options:

  • Using the function Maintain Rule Entries, you specify which values are to be entered in the target fields for which account assignment values of source fields. You can also make these assignments in the Funds Management master data maintenance under Assignments -> Edit Account Assignment Derivation.
  • You can make additional specifications on the tab page Properties; for example, you can enable the specification of a validity date for the step and thereby define a time dependency.
  • You can define the following for the target field:
    • That the new value is not transferred if a value already exists as a result of a previous derivation step
    • That the new value is transferred even if the new value is initial (space)
    • That the new value is transferred if the new value is filled
Note: With this setting you can, for example, define that the derived value cannot be overwritten manually.

Change/delete step

  • In change mode you can use all of the functions described under "Create Step".
  • To delete a step, select it and choose Delete.

Change step sequence

  1. Select the step to be moved.
  2. Place the cursor below the target item.
  3. Choose Move.

Further notes

Master data check

Note that the system does not check whether master data exists when you enter values. This check takes place when you post.

Test derivation strategy

You can use the function Test to check your derivation strategy.

Transport

You can use the function Transport to create a transport request and transport your derivation strategy to other clients.
