In this step you define the number intervals in the number ranges for production units.
Each production unit is created under a unique key. You can define internal or external number range for assigning these keys. The system assigns keys as follows when the production units are created and generated:
- When generating the production units, the system assigns a consecutive number from the internal number range automatically.
- If you do not specify a key when you create the production units, the system assigns a consecutive number from the internal number range automatically.
- If you assign the key yourself when you create production units, the system checks your entry against the external number range.
The Ext indicator controls whether a number range is internal or external.
Transport
You transport number range objects as follows:
Choose Interval -> Transport in the accounting document Number Range screen.
All intervals for the selected number range object are deleted in the target system first. After the import, only the intervals you export are present. The number statuses are imported with their values at the time of export.
Dependent tables are not transported or converted.
Activities
To define a number range, you must insert a new number interval. The procedure is as follows:
- Enter an alphanumeric key of up to two characters.
- Define the range of the number interval. Individual number intervals cannot overlap. A number can only be used once in each number range.
- Select the Ext indicator for the external number range intervals.
Further notes
You should then define the number range usage for the production unit number range object (ISP_PE).
