In this step you define the number intervals in the number ranges for the ad insert.
Each ad insert is created using a unique key. You can define an internal or an external number range for assigning the key.
- If you do not specify a key when creating an ad insert, the system will assign a consecutive number from the internal number range automatically.
- If you assign the key yourself when creating an ad insert, the system will check your entry against the external number range.
- The "Ext" indicator controls whether the respective number range is internal or external.
Transport
You transport number range objects as follows:
Choose Interval -> Transport in the accounting document Number Range screen.
All intervals for the selected number range object are deleted in the target system first. After the import, only the intervals you export are present. The number statuses are imported with their values at the time of export.
Dependent tables are not transported or converted.
Activities
To define a number range, you need to insert a new number interval. The procedure for doing so is as follows:
- Enter an alphanumeric key of up to two characters.
- Specify the limits of the number interval. Individual number intervals cannot overlap. Therefore, each number can only appear once.
- Set the "Ext" indicator for the external number range interval.
Further notes
Having done so, you should maintain the Use of number range for the number range object in the ad insert.
