In this step, you define the possible issue variant types. The issue type is the actual form in which an issue is published and is used to control service types and return frequencies.
When creating purchase agreements, you specify the service type to determine which issue variant types are sold. When you create summarized returns, you specify the return frequency to determine which issue variant types are returned.
Example
The service type 'Saturday subscription' only contains the Saturday edition. If you specify this service type when you create a subscription item, you define that (only) the issue variant type 'Saturday issue' is sold.
The return frequency 'Monday to Wednesday' includes the issues from Monday through Wednesday. If you specify this return frequency when creating a summarized return, you define that the issue variant types of these three publication days are returned (together).
Standard settings
The standard system contains common issue variant types.
Recommendation
You should define one issue variant type per weekday for dailies so that it is possible to have sales for specific days.
Activities
- Check which issue variant types are necessary for sales of your issues.
- Edit the existing entries.
- To create any new entries you require, please proceed as follows:
- Specify an alphanumeric key of up to 2 characters for each issue variant type.
- Enter a descriptive short and long text.
