This step provides information on the authorization objects defined in the standard system for the individual functions of the application. You can maintain authorizations for these objects in the SAP System.

You can display the fields for each authorization object. The system checks the contents of these fields in an authorization check. If the contents do not correspond to the specifications for the authorization object for the user, the user will not be able to edit the object.

The simplest way of maintaining authorizations is using activity groups.

Please note that maintaining authorizations using activity groups is a new function. The previous procedure is still supported and is described further below.

The remainder of this document provides information on the previous procedure up to and including version 4.0.

Standard settings

The standard system contains authorizations for all authorization objects in the application.

The system contains maintenance and display authorizations for the objects.

The standard authorizations apply to all organizational units.

Activities

  1. Check whether the authorizations in the standard delivery meet your requirements.

    To do this, please proceed as follows:

    1. Choose the object class for the application.
      2. The system displays a list of the authorization objects it contains.
    2. Choose an authorization object.
      3. The system now displays a list of authorizations for this object.
  2. If necessary, create any new authorizations you need.

    To do this, proceed as follows:

    1. Choose Authorization -> Create.
    2. Enter the authorization and a short text.
    3. Choose a field to maintain the individual field values.
    4. Save your settings.
    5. Activate the new authorization.

Notes on data transport

To transport authorizations, please proceed as follows:

  1. On the object list screen, choose Authorization -> Transport.

    The system displays a list of the authorizations that can be transported.

  2. Select the authorizations you want to transport into the productive system.
  3. Press ENTER to confirm your entry and specify a correction number.

If the technical names of the objects are also displayed in the object list, please proceed as follows:

  1. Choose an authorization object in the object list.

    The system displays a list of authorizations for the selected object.

  2. Choose the menu path Authorization -> Transport.

    The system displays a list of authorizations that can be transported.

  3. Select the authorizations you want to transport to the productive system.
  4. Press ENTER to confirm your entries and specify a correction number.
