In this step, you define the number intervals for the number ranges for business partners.
Every business partner is created under a unique key. You can define both an internal and an external number range for assigning these keys.
- If you do not specify a key when creating a business partner, the system automatically assigns a sequence number from the internal number range.
- If you assign the key yourself when creating a business partner, the system checks your entry against the external number range.
The indicator Ext. determines whether the number range is internal or external.
You can assign the number range intervals for business partners to the IS-M account groups.
Note
When defining the business partner number range, please pay attention to the connection with:
- IS-M account groups
- customer account group
- vendor account group
- number ranges assigned to these account groups in the SD module.
Since the SAP Business Partner is used in IS-M, number assignment for business partners takes place using the number range intervals for the SAP Business Partner groupings. The number range intervals defined in this step should then match the corresponding number range intervals for the business partner groupings for the SAP Business Partner. However, the number range status is not updated in these number range intervals. Please see Number Ranges and Groupings for further information.
Transport
You transport number range objects as follows:
Choose Interval -> Transport in the accounting document Number Range screen.
All intervals for the selected number range object are deleted in the target system first. After the import, only the intervals you export are present. The number statuses are imported with their values at the time of export.
Dependent tables are not transported or converted.
Activities
To define a number range, you must specify a number interval (or several number intervals). To do this, please proceed as follows:
- Specify an alphanumeric key of up to 2 characters for each number interval.
- Specify the limits of the number interval in the From number and To number fields.
The individual number intervals should not overlap. A number can only be used once in each number range. - Select the indicator Ext. for external number range intervals.
- Use the group maintenance function to assign the number intervals to the account groups.
