In this step, you define general control parameters that apply to the whole industry-specific component for the media industry. The general control parameters are grouped in the following areas (blocks):

Active applications

In this section, you mark which industry-specific components for media are in active use:

  • IS-M/SD active or IS-M/AM active

    Marking the active applications IS-M/SD (Media Sales and Distribution) or IS-M/AM (Advertising Management) - according to the licenses purchased - controls shared use of master data functions. Both IS-M components must be activated in order to process ad insert or distribution orders (business processing in M/AM, logistics processing in M/SD).

  • IS-M/AM ad ins.active or IS-M/AM AI dist.active

    This indicator allows you to activate the ad insert order (insertion, delta coverage) or the distribution order in Advertising Management. These sales document types can be used for business and logistics processing of ad pre-print orders and replace the corresponding ad pre-print sales document types in Media Sales and Distribution (insert order or distribution order).

  • Product synch.active

    If this indicator is selected, media product data in M/SD (media family, media product, media issue) is maintained in the material master in Materials Management (MM) and written synchronously (in the background) to the previous M/SD product structures. This means the publication, edition and issue can no longer be maintained as individual objects.

  • SD integration active

    If this indicator is selected, retail is processed using SD functions. The logistics process is performed using SD transactions. If the indicator is not selected, retail is processed using the M/SD functions that were used until now.

  • BW active for M/SD or BW active for M/AM

    If this indicator is selected, BW (Business Information Warehouse) is used by the component in question (Media Sales and Distribution or Advertising Management).

General settings

  • Basic language

    Specify the basic language used as an alternative to the logon language when searching for display texts. If the system is unable to find a text in the logon language, it also performs a search in the basic language.

  • Standard material

    This indicator allows you to determine whether the advertising materials for sales support in Periodical Sales and Distribution are also recorded in the standard SAP material table.

  • SD transaction set up (display only)

    This indicator is selected if the transaction Set up SD business partner was carried out. If the indicator is not selected, you must call up this customizing function in the 'Business Partner' section.

Structure maintenance

  • Change number
    • No.days
      • The number of days you specify here is added to the current date when a daily change number is created and the system checks whether this total is greater than the valid-from date of the daily change number.
    • Days to ch.no.
      • In this field, you specify the number of days the valid-from date must be moved into the future when a change number is created.
    • Country key
      • Specify the country key to be taken into account when maintaining geographical structures.
    • Specific to user
      • This indicator allows you to determine whether or not the change number is to apply to the particular user only.
  • Technical settings for structure maintenance
    • Maximum no. nodes
      • The internal buffer factor for the number of nodes in the geographical structure is a purely technical setting. Please do not change the entry 150.
    • Max. change numbers
      • The internal buffer factor for the number of change numbers is a purely technical setting. Please do not change the entry 150.
    • Max. no. carr.routes
      • The internal buffer factor for the number of carrier routes is a purely technical setting. Please do not change the entry 150.
    • Max. no. geo. units
      • The internal buffer factor for the number of geographical units is a purely technical setting. Please do not change the entry 150.
    • Max. assignments
      • Specify the maximum number of assignments possible when creating geographical structures. You should not make more than 100 assignments per level.
  • Assignments
    • Excl.assgmt duration
      • Specify the maximum duration (number of days) for the exclusive assignment of geographical units to carrier routes.
    • Suspension duration
      • Specify the maximum duration (number of days) for suspensions of exclusive assignments in geographical structures.
  • Release
    • ChNoDays
      • Specify the number of days before the valid-from date of a change number when its creator is sent a mail requesting that the change number be released. The number of days is read by the background report RJSWATCH, which should be run once a day.
    • FM Release order
      • Applies only to Switzerland: Specify the function module used to process orders from the release of a change number.
    • Generate round seq.
      • If you select this indicator, the system refreshes the round sequences for home delivery when a change number is released (if the change number in question was used to change the carrier route structure). The round sequence must then be modified accordingly in the system using the maintenance function 'Round sequence'. CAUTION: Please select this indicator only if you really require the round sequence, as it will otherwise slow down the release procedure unnecessarily.
    • Limited order block possible
      • If this indicator is selected, you can use the settings for the change number to control that the block between change number release and order processing is restricted to the relevant geographical structures. If the indicator is not selected, a general block is set between order processing and change number release. The two processes are mutually exclusive.

Address management and duplicate check

  • Add.duplicate check

    Select this indicator if you want the system to run a duplicate check when you create a business partner address.

  • Propose address

    Select this indicator if you want the system to display the previous address for you to overwrite when creating a change of address.

  • Region automatically

    Select this indicator if you want the system to enter the region automatically when you create addresses. This is only possible if you maintain the assignments of municipality keys to regions. This customizing step can be found in the section Postal Structures.

Central access

This value restricts the maximum number of records allowed for data selection in central access. For example, when determining address data according to the specified selection criteria, processing is terminated when the maximum number is exceeded.

Business partner

  • SAP BP active

    This indicator means that IS-M business partner master data is managed using the functions of the (central) SAP business partner. The indicator is set by the migration tool.

  • Bank details sales area-dependent

    This indicator means that the business partner bank data is managed for specific sales areas. The indicator is set by the migration tool.
