In this step, you maintain the possible geographical assignment types for geographical assignments between retailers. You specify the appropriate assignment type when you assign a retailer to a geographical unit (in the master data on the retailer).
The assignment type can be used to classify the geographical area to which a retailer is assigned, for example as follows:
- Wholesale area
- Nielsen area
- Sales area for ad inserts (booking unit)
- Home delivery area
- Sales area for phase delivery
Geographical assignment types are needed in Media Product Sales and Distribution in the following cases:
- Automatic assignment of ad inserts from Advertising Management to contracts (based on the geographical assignment for the retailer)
- Assignment of retailers to target areas for phase delivery
(The phase delivery function allows you to stagger delivery to different geographical areas or target groups, so that returns from one phase can be shipped in the next.)
Example
You specify that the geographical unit you assign to the retailer corresponds to a booking unit for the sale of ad inserts or a target area for phase delivery.

Enter a two-character key and a text for each assignment type.
