In this step, you convert the master data for the media contact person.

Selection by business partners and/or contact persons is possible. The system only converts those media contact persons who do not have a deletion indicator or deletion flag.

The system creates an SAP Business Partner and a contact person relationship for each media contact person master record selected.

  • The Also Select Non-Converted Due to Error Media CP parameter controls whether media contact persons are only converted if they have not already been converted or whether those contact persons who could not be converted during an earlier program run due to an error are also to be converted here.
  • When making the Default settings for the New SAP Business Partner, you can define values for some of the attributes that are used to create the SAP Business Partner or the contact person relationships: Enter a business partner grouping with internal number assignment.
  • When defining the run control, you make settings that control the way in which the program is run:
If you select the Check Customizing Settings indicator, the system checks whether you have assigned a Customizing setting for the contact person relationship to each media contact person Customizing setting before conversion is actually performed. If the assignment is complete, the system displays a message to this effect in the log and then performs the conversion. If this is not the case, a message is displayed in the log for each missing setting and conversion is not performed. You can either add the missing settings (under Tools -> Conversion of Media Contact Person to SAP Business Partner -> Assignment of SAP BP Settings to Media Contact Person Settings) or perform the conversion in spite of the incomplete assignment by executing the program again and not selecting the Check Customizing Settings parameter.
  • You can use the Generate Change Document parameter to control whether change documents are generated for business partners who are created during the conversion. This parameter does not affect business partners who are changed. The system generates generic change documents for changes. If you do not require change documents for business partner creation, you should deselect the parameter to suppress creation of change documents. This significantly improves the performance of conversion.

The Test run parameter controls whether SAP Business Partners and contact person relationships are created in the database. The system only saves the conversion log here if the test run parameter is not selected.

Example

The following section uses examples to describe how conversion is performed for media contact person MEDIACP who is the contact person for the ORGSAP Business Partner of the Organization business partner category.

  • Attributes for MEDIACP are used to create the SAP Business Partner SAPAP of the Natural person business partner category in the contact person role.
The address for SAPAP is generated from the home address of MEDIACP if they have a home address. If this is not the case, the business address is used. During address generation for SAPAP, the system copies the name attributes from the name fields for the media contact person and not the name fields for the home or business address. The language, gender and date of birth of the media contact person are also copied into the BP master data from SAPAP.
  • If SAPAP is created successfully, the system creates a BP relationship of the is a contact person for relationship category with unlimited validity between SAPAP and ORG. The department, function, VIP and power of attorney attributes for the media contact person are copied into the respective attributes in the general data for the contact person relationship according to the settings that have been made under Tools -> Assignment of SAP BP Settings to Media Contact Person Settings. The telephone number and area code are copied into the communication data for the contact person relationship, whilst the customer department and office number are copied into the address data for this relationship.
  • If the contact person and the relationship can be created, MEDIACP is assigned the Converted automatically conversion status. This ensures that they are not processed again if the program is run subsequently. A message that indicates that MEDIACP has been converted successfully to SAPAP is displayed in the log.
  • If an error occurs when the contact person or relationship are created, MEDIACP is assigned the Could not be converted due to an error conversion status. The appropriate error message is displayed in the log.

You can then post-edit the media contact person manually and having done so, start the conversion process again.

Requirements

  • The SAP Business Partner must be active. You must therefore migrate IS-M business partners to SAP Business Partners in an initial step.
  • The contact person must not be active as an SAP Business Partner. If a contact person has already been activated, it is no longer possible to convert media contact persons.

Further notes

  • Function exits EXIT_SAPLJGBP03_001 and EXIT_SAPLJGBP03_002 in enhancement JGBP0301 allow you to control the way in which the media contact person attributes are represented as SAP Business Partner attributes or to influence the contact person relationship.

You can also use these exits to make entries in fields that you have declared as required entry fields in the Business Data Toolset control for business partners and business partner relationships in addition to those fields that are shipped as standard.

  • Logs that were saved to the database during the actual conversion run can be deleted using transaction SLG2 (Application log: Delete obsolete logs). Enter the ISMAM object and MD_CNTCT_PRSN_CONV sub-object and additional requirements if these are required.
