Use
In this IMG activity you set up RFC connections between the SAP system and the computer system on which Text Retrieval & Information Extraction (previously Index Management Service) is installed.
Please also refer to the notes in the installation guide for Text Retrieval & Information Extraction.
Requirements
For the computer system for the Text Retrieval & Information Extraction
(while keeping to the system prerequisites as set out in the installation guide):
- Installation of SAP Gateway from 4.6D (standard)
- Installation of a search engine (Verity 1.2.2 or DrFuzzy)
- Installation of Text Retrieval & Information Extraction
Standard settings
Activities
2 RFC connections are needed:
1. For the indexing of documents; the RFC destination IMSDEFAULT with activation type = start.
2. For the searching for documents, the RFC destination IMSDEFAULT_REG with activation type = registration.
Carry out the activity.
1. Creation and test of RFC destination for indexing
- Choose Create.
- In the field RFC Destination enter
IMSDEFAULT
. - Choose the connection type T.
- Enter a description.
- Choose Save.
In the following dialog window, you determine the settings for the RFC destination IMSD EFAULT.
- Choose the activation type Start.
- In the field Start On enter Explicit Host.
- In the field Program enter
ims_server_admin.exe
. - In the field Save As enter the required option (host or IP Address).
- In the field target computer enter the host name (possibly with domain name), or the IP address of the Windows NT computer on which the Text Retrieval & Information Extraction (Index Management Service) is installed.
- Choose Save.
Then determine the settings for the SAP Gateway.
- In the menu Destination choose Gateway Options.
- In the field Gateway Host enter the host name (possibly with domain name), or the IP address of the Windows NT computer on which the SAP Gateway is installed.
- In the field Gateway Service enter the name of the Gateway

(xx = 2 character number of the SAP system). This value is generallysapgw47
. - Choose OK.
You return to the previous dialog window.
- Choose Save.
- Choose Test Connection.
The RFC connection is created.
2. Creation and test of the RFC destination for search
- In transaction SM59 choose Create.
- In the field RFC Destination enter
IMSDEFAULT_REG
. - Choose the connection type T.
- Enter a description.
- Choose Save.
In the following dialog window you determine the settings for the RFC destination IMSD EFAULT_REG.
- Choose the activation type registration.
- In the area Registration in the field Program ID enter the host with the registration program
rfc_sapretrieval
- Choose Save.
Then determine the settings for the SAP Gateway.
- In the menu Destination choose Gateway Options.
- In the field Gateway Host enter the host name (possibly with domain name), or the IP address of the Windows NT computer on which the Gateway is installed.
- In the field Gateway Service enter the name of the Gateway

You return to the previous dialog window.
- Choose Save.
- Choose Test Connection.
The RFC connection is created.
