Use
In this Customizing step, you define where the data of a segment comes from.
A segment in Context Data Extractor represents one single type of data with a well-defined structure. The data of a segment can be stored in one or several database tables. If the data is stored in one database table and all fields of the database table should be archived, then the segment and the corresponding structure of the database table are equal. In many cases, there is only one database table assigned to one segment. In other cases, a segment may be a combination of two or more database tables.
The following Context Data Extractor functions are related to this Customizing step:
- Segment Catalog
You can use the Show Segment Catalog program to get an overview of the most important Customizing information in a compact format.
The program also shows the original database tables assigned to the segments.
- Generic Function Modules for Selection
You can use generic function modules to select data from a database table. If generic function modules are used, the module has to know which database table has to be read.
