In this IMG activity, you specify which jurisdictions (validity areas) can have work areas and patterns assigned to them, for example, USA, ADR states.
You define which countries belong to the validity areas in the Assign Validity Area/Country processing step.
Note
The validity areas are used by other EH&S components, such as Product Safety and Dangerous Goods Management. The settings you make for work areas and patterns therefore have effects on other objects, for example, the specification. For more information, see Specify Validity Areas in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools.

Standard entries are shipped.
Activities
- Check the standard settings.
- Specify other validity areas as required.
Note:
Using the validity area category, you assign validity areas to organizational units, for example, plant, region. Validity area categories are defined in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools under Specify Validity Area Categories.
Also note:
If you are already using Industrial Hygiene and Safety in a productive system and use validity areas that do not have a category assignment, this will have no effect on your data. You do not have to change the relevant Customizing entries and you can continue to use the validity areas. However, if you create new validity areas, you should assign a category to them.
Further notes
Validity areas that have been used at any time in productive systems cannot be deleted.
